Hello Conviction…

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23 and 24 does not beat around the bush.  Whether I am preparing [...]

The end encapsulates the whole…

I’ve borrowed grief this morning… I read a wonderful blog every day that helps to center my soul on thankfulness, and through it I have seen the graceful exit of Sara, a woman who I have not known here on earth but I know I will spend eternity with.  It got me thinking though… this [...]

She said WHAT?

The manner in which we WANT to be held accountable and how we NEED to be held accountable are seldom the same.  Too often believers hide behind that old maxim that “God is our judge and we shouldn’t judge one another”.   Unfortunately, that comfort zone has left far too many as easy targets for the [...]

Made for relationship

In this transitional season of my life, there is a hedonistic tendency to feel as if I am alone… either that or a martyr.  Both of which seem so self-centered, but are a temptation nonetheless.  Even though I have sat through and acted in this scene, this play, numerous times before and know how it [...]

When I am empty…

As I enter a new season in my life I have been looking for a label.  Don’t we all do that?  When you meet someone new or see a person you want to reconnect with, what is one of the main questions that comes up?  “What do you do now?”, right?  I just had my [...]

Can you hear me now?

I grew up in a conservative baptist church and old hymns were the worship choice of the day.  My mother had an old hymn book that I used to sing through as a child.  Those songs and their rich lyrics have stuck with me.  When my two older children were young I used to sing [...]

What matters most….

I had a personal revelation today.  Jesus would never have made a documentary on his religious stance.  He would never have gone on 20/20 and ranted about how he feels about homosexuality.  Jesus would not have engaged in arguments about politics and abortion.  The only time that Jesus got really fierce about something was when [...]

I do.

Fifteen years ago today I was sitting in a coffee shop that is no longer in business with my bridesmaids.  I was getting ready to go have my hair and makeup done and enter the day that so many little girls dream of… my wedding.  Since I was young enough to put a bath towel [...]

What is more important?

Today starts a new season in my life. Strike that… today continues a new season in my life. I have much to do today.  Methodically going through each room in the house to cull out what can be sold at a yard sale later this month to keep up with the bills with one less [...]

It’s pouring…

When it rains, it pours. Friday I lost my livelihood.  The details are not important; no one is to blame.  My clients were/are understanding and encouraging. All of this aside, I am in that season again where I must trust.  Of course I have a choice to become bitter, look for someone to tag my [...]

Why the title?

Dragonflies & Mud Puddles Did you know that the bejeweled and captivating dragonfly began as an ugly, tan "nymph" in some stagnant pond or puddle? The glorious creature that nimbly flits from place to place for a whole 2 months (that is their life span!) is a picture of the wonderful truths we can extricate from the ugly places of our lives. Those truths show the glory of God majestically! Join me in giving freedom to the beauty that begins in the dark, muddy places of our lives!

Looking back…

When was that post?
